Urban Farmhouse

the Story
This was a new home on an existing foundation for one of the contractors we had worked with on a number of projects. His family was growing and their current home was failing and they needed more space. They wanted a craftsman house. One of the things they really wanted were exposed beams, but they knew that would break the budget so they asked us to come up with something. We ended up taking a more squared-off crown trim profile and lowered it on the walls to make it feel like beams. We wrapped the whole first floor with this trim and it really worked. They had a growing family and needed lots storage, so we created built-ins everywhere. One of the fun features of the downstairs was the fireplace, which rotates so they can enjoy it when they are in the living room or at the dining table. In the backyard, they have a large garden space.
